The main gare SNCF (Amiens-Nord) and gare routière
are both situated on the rectangular place A.-Fiquet. Connected to the
train station is a two-storey shopping complex, Amiens 2, where you'll
find most things you need - including a supermarket and public toilets.
The tourist office is south of the cathedral, just off place
Gambetta at 6bis rue Dusevel (April-Sept Mon-Sat 9.30am-7pm, Sun
10am-noon & 2-5pm; Oct-March Mon-Sat 9.30am-6pm, Sun 10am-noon
& 2-5pm; tel 03.22.71.60.50, fax 03.22.71.60.51, www.amiens.com/tourisme ).
Decent accommodation can be found on rue Alexandre-Fatton, a quiet street opposite the station: at no. 15, the Spatial (tel 03.22.91.53.23, fax 03.22.92.27.87; €24-34) has free parking and simple doubles; and at no. 17, the Central Anzac (tel 03.22.91.34.08, fax 03.22.91.36.02; €24-34) offers similar facilities. A good alternative is the Hôtel de Normandie , in the adjacent rue Lamartine (tel 03.22.91.74.99, fax 03.22.92.06.56; €24-34). The Victor Hugo
, 2 rue de l'Oratoire (tel 03.22.91.57.91, fax 03.22.92.74.02; €24-34),
is right in sight of the cathedral, as is the more upmarket Le Prieuré
, 17 rue Porion (tel 03.22.92.27.67, fax 03.22.92.46.16; €34-46), whose
rooms are all equipped with shower, TV, telephone and toilet.
