From the central place Goya, boulevard du Président-Carnot leads to the gares SNCF and routière . The tourist office is at 107 bd Carnot (July & Aug Mon-Sat 9am-7pm, Sun 10am-noon; rest of year Mon-Sat 9am-12.30pm & 2-6.30pm; tel 05.53.47.36.09, fax 05.53.47.29.98,

There are several reasonable hotel options in Agen. Near the tourist office, the Ibis , 16 rue Camille-Desmoulins (tel 05.53.47.43.43, fax 05.53.47.68.54; €46-61), doesn't look much but is comfortable and welcoming. Also very central and in a more attractive street is the simple Hôtel des Ambans , 59 rue des Ambans (tel 05.53.66.28.60, fax 05.53.87.94.01; €24-34), near place Goya. At the east end of bd de la République, close to the river, the attractive Hôtel des Îles , 25 rue Baudin (tel 05.53.47.11.33, fax 05.53.66.19.25; €24-34), is less convenient but has light, airy rooms.
The best places to eat well at reasonable prices are Les Mignardises , 40 rue Camille-Desmoulins (closed Sun & Mon), popular for its good-value menus (from €8.54), and the more upmarket Le Margotan , 52 rue Richard-C?ur-de-Lion (tel 05.53.48.11.55; closed Mon; from €13.72), which has a good range of seafood. Alternatively, try Flo d'Argent , 24 place J.-B.-Durand (menus €8-18.60), with an eclectic menu and Provencal decor, or, if you like crêpes, head for the Crêperie des Jacobins , right opposite the Église des Jacobins (closed Sun & Mon; €6.10-7.62).
