Le Puy doesn't have a superabundance of hotels , so it's wise to book ahead in peak season. Three to try on boulevard Maréchal-Fayolle, the main boulevard connecting the station and place Breuil, are the clean and pleasant Dyke Hôtel , at no. 37 (tel 04.71.09.05.03, fax 04.71.02.58.66; €34-46), the basic Régional , at no. 36 (tel 04.71.09.37.34; under €24), and the rather handsome old Régina , at no. 34 (tel 04.71.09.14.71, fax 04.71.09.18.57, www.hotelrestregina.com ; €46-€107; restaurant from €12.96). Alternatively, there's theBristol , at 7 av Foch (tel 04.71.09.13.38, fax 04.71.09.51.70; €34-46), with a restaurant offering an excellent regional set menu from €13.72. For those watching the pennies, there's a good HI hostel at the attractive Centre Pierre-Cardinal , 9 rue Jules-Vallès (tel 04.71.05.52.40, fax 04.71.05.61.80), just off rue Lafayette, in the heart of the old town. Campers should head for the municipal Camping d'Audinet , near the River Loire in the northeast corner of town.
